I am Craig-Anthony Ismael, a photographer and gilder whose practice transcends mediums to celebrate the rich tapestry of queer, African American, and Caribbean cultures. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, With a Jamaican mother and Bajan father, my artistic practice emerged from a deep recognition of media as a powerful tool for visual propaganda and an enduring passion for history.
Through my work, I strive to create visual narratives that evoke a sense of nostalgia and pride. I believe that media can provide an opportunity for both viewer and artist to experience narratives presented with unwavering conviction. My art invites a shared exploration of it’s impact and meaning, serving as a testament to the power of representation. I am dedicated to showcasing the resilience, joy, pain, and vibrancy from a black queer Caribbean perspective.
